Happy Bandi Chhor Divas! For those wondering why Sikhs celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas and not Diwali – it’s because our reason for celebrating is entirely different. Bandhi Chhor Divas pretty much means “a celebration for the release of the people” and refers to a moment in Sikh history when Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was released from jail and fought for the release of fellow Hindu prisoners as well.
