New Pics :: Simran In The Park
23 Jul

“Simran in the park” was amazing! Grassroots community organizing at its finest. Meditating in the warm summer breeze with a crew of youth, joined by elders strolling in the park, was dope!
For those of you interested, this was actually the first edition of “Simran in the park” which was held at the park on Kaiser Drive in Mississauga. It will continue for the duration of the summer on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7pm.
Also, beginning next week, we’ll be hitting up a different park on Thursdays as well. Who knows, maybe we’ll start doing open mics in your community park next!
Anyways, check out the images below or visit the gallery

Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh,
My name is Arvinder Kaur.In my opinion, doing `Simran` in the park is not the right place.First of all,That place is not clean enough to do Simran. You should do it in the houses in a respectful manner.
I have to respectfully say that the previous comment makes no sense at all. If Akal Purakh is omnipresent, meaning Akal is present everywhere, how can you say that any in which Akal Purakh resides is too dirty to meditate?
Also, in Sikhi were are told to always, continously Jap Naam, how is that possible if one says a park is too dirty for this meditation to take place? Brahmgyanis get Jaapa Jaap, meaning they are Jaaping Naam 24/7. This includes when they sleep, go to the washroom and take walks in the park – my point is there is no such thing as a place that is too dirty, for someething so beautifully pure. The name of VAHEGURU, is above all filth in this world of maya, so don’t get it twisted.
I agree, no place is a “dirty” place to do Simran. Would you also think the Nagar Kirtans that take place every year are “dirty” parades as we walk outside on the “dirty” streets? Should we all lock ourselves in our homes when it comes to expressing and discovering our spiritual and religious beliefs and practices because that is what you think is the most respectable place and manner in doing so? Completely and utterly disagree with you Arvinder Kaur.
That was just a suggestion.I really appreciate the initiative you guys are taking.
Arvinder Kaur, Guru Nanak and Bhai Maradana use to do beautiful kirtan out in the open.
People need to stop over thinking about little issues that DO NOT MATTER!!!
If people are doing kirtan in a park, that is their right and for god-sake, its not about how “clean” something looks from the outside, okay? because did you know there are fat old “sikh” men who have dirty evil polluted souls and their asses are sitting in the siri akal takht and they are greedy, selfish, and stupid and they could care less about sikhi and sikh history…i would consider a place like that to be “polluted”…do not be fooled by outside beauty…
also..did u know bhagat kabir lived in the slums?
he said he would rather die in the slums then in that hindu river, ganges, or varnasi, where everyone wanted to die because it was more “PURE”
God is everywhere!!
Yeah i agree one hundred percent
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
Oh pish- posh! A truly beautiful event if I may say so myself. I attended last Wednesday’s Simran program for the very first time and was simply blown away! The sense of Seva and Simran was exceptionally brilliant!
